Request for Investigation Regarding
Perceived Violation of Rule of
Profession Conduct and Professional Misconduct of Virginia Hackney, Esquire and Hunton & Williams
To Whom It May
Concern:
We believe Virginia Hackney, a Virginia
attorney, and the Hunton & Williams law firm have engaged in practices
which demonstrate a serious conflict of interest in their various
representations of the Southside Regional Medical Center (SRMC) Medical Staff and their representation of the
SRMC Hospital Authority.
In January, 2003, despite being fired by
SRMC Medical Staff, she and Hunton & Williams continued to represent SRMC
Hospital Authority and CEO in sale of SRMC, and in their attempts, to use the
Peer Review Rules and hearsay evidence to willfully and maliciously discredit
and silence SRMC physician, Dr. Lokesh Vuyyuru.
It is public knowledge that Dr. Vuyyuru iS, and has been, the most vocal
opponent of the sale of SRMC and misuse of public hospital funds.
In her capacity as Medical Staff attorney,
Virginia Hackney appear to have approached several of Dr. Vuyyuru's patients in
an attempt to solicit and persuade the filing of unwarranted complaints against
him. Also, obtained access to patient
medical records and information, after contacting the patient's family and the
family denied such access violating a federal statute, Patient Rights and
Privacy and using this information in Peer Review Process, a statute violation.
Therefore, we request a disciplinary
investigation and action be taken for possible violation of Rules of
Professional Conduct.
Your cooperation is greatly appreciated.
Sincerely,
George Brown Lloyd Hines Emma Hicks-Whitehead
